The Edge

‘The Edge’ is an adventurous survival thriller released on September 26, 1997. This movie was directed by Lee Tamahori and the screenplay was written by Lee Tamahori himself and David Mamet.

Plot summary:

The opening sequence of the movie begins with a scene showing a man named Charles Morse who is a billionaire. He wants to do a memorable photo shoot with his wife Mickey Morse. So they hire a very famous photographer in the town named Bob. Charles takes him and his assistant to a resort in Alaska.

 

The owner of the resort warns them not to keep any food open because there are wild bears that are very dangerous. All the people now go to their respective rooms. At night, Charles feels hungry so he gets down the stairs. There he finds some meet that was left open. He also sees that the door is open so he goes to close the door. At the very moment, he gets attacked by a bear. But surprisingly it was not the bear but Bob and they were just playing a prank. Since it is his birthday today, so his wife planned a surprise party. His wife Mickey gifts him a watch whereas the photographer gifts him a pocket knife. There was a note too with the knife but Charles doesn’t read that.

 

The next day is the solo photo shoot of Mickey. Bob clicks a lot of photos of Mickey. He even flirts with her and Charles was looking at this from far away. Bob tells that now they want a male model to shoot with her. Charles says that he would shoot with her but Bob declines that. Actually, Bob is Charles’s childhood friend and Bob is jealous of his success. Now Bob sees a photo of a hunter and tells that he wants him as a model with the owner of the hotel. The owner gives him the location. This seems to be in inner Alaska. So Charles, Bob and his assistant go to that location on a plane. But they find that the hunter has left a note there stating that they should come to the specified location in the note in order to find him. So they decide to go there. But on the way their plane gets hit by birds and the plane crashes in the lake. The pilot dies whereas the other members somehow save their life. Since they are totally wet now, they feel very cold and Bob takes his waterproof matchbox out. They burn the fire and stay there that night.

 

The next morning, Charles says that they should go to Hunter’s place because it is safer. They head towards that place but they get followed by a bear. They try crossing the river by putting a log over it. Bob and his assistant successfully cross the river but when it is Charles’s turn the bear comes and moves the log. Charles falls to the river and his sensors flow there. But somehow he is saved and they head towards their destination. But they find out that they have come to the same place from where they started.

 

They seem clueless because they don’t have food too. Charles tells the assistant to catch fish with the knife. But the assistant mistakenly hurts his own knee and starts bleeding. Charles puts the bandage over the wound and tells Bob to burn the cloth full of blood because a bear may come looking at that. They decide to spend the night there itself because the assistant can’t walk. That night, it starts raining. Bob had not burnt that cloth and hence the bear comes there. It attacks on them and it kills that assistant.

 

Now only Charles and Bob are left. They make a trap to hunt squirrels so that they can eat it. It starts snowing too. A helicopter comes for their rescue but it can’t see them because they were overshadowed by the trees so it leaves. Bob gets angry at Charles and starts shouting. He takes all his frustrations out by telling that he is jealous of all his wealth and success.

 

They continue their journey because they don’t have any other option. But they once again get attacked by the bear but they run away. That night, they sleep by making a fire boundary. Charles says that they should kill the bear because they can’t keep running like this. Bob doesn’t accept that because he says that it is very strong and they can’t confront the bear. But Charles insists and they finally decide to do it. Charles puts that knife over a stick to make a long weapon and he puts a cloth covered with blood over it. Bear comes there and starts chasing them. It even attacks Bob but Charles distracts the bear and kills the bear.

 

Now they have a lot of bear meat and fur too. And then they head towards the correct direction by making a compass with the needle of the watch his wife gifted. They reach a cabin but they don’t find anyone there. They find alcohol, gun, and map there. Charles looks at the location of the resort. Meanwhile, Bob goes out to see if the boat is working.

 

Charles looks at the letter that was with the knife. Actually, it is the bill of the knife and the watch together. This means that Bob and Mickey are having an affair. Charles asks Bob about all this and he accepts that. He even tells that Mickey married him just because of his wealth. Charles feels sad. Bob even points the gun toward Charles to kill him so that he can marry Mickey. But Charles smartly puts him in a trap and he falls into it. Bob gets heavily injured but Charles doesn’t leave him like that but rather takes him out and puts on a bandage and takes him into the boat to safely take him to the resort. Bob feels sorry about he couldn’t be a good friend.

 

They rest at the bank. Bob is heavily injured. Bob tells Charles that Mickey has no fault in this but it was him who put her in the delusion of love. A helicopter comes for their rescue but Bob is no more till that time. He comes to the resort which is full of reporters. Charles doesn’t say anything to Mickey but hands her that watch and she understands that he knows everything. Mickey with full guilt hugs Charles. Reporters ask him how the other two were killed and he emotionally replies that they lost their lives while saving him. This show how noble man Charles was. And with this, the movie comes to an end.

These Final Hours

This science fiction apocalyptic drama was released on July 31, 2014. The movie was directed by Zak Hilditch and the screenplay was written by Zak Hilditch himself.

Plot summary:

The opening scene of the movie shows a give asteroid which is falling towards north atlanta. It means the world is going to get destroyed within some hours. The next scene shows a man James with his girlfriend Zoe. Zoe tells him that she is pregnant. They get emotional; because they know that within 12 hours, the thunders will reach too Australia too and they will die. James doesn’t care much and heads to go for a party because this is going to be the last party in his life and in the world. The name of the party is ‘The party to end all parties’. He drives the car and on his way, he keeps on drinking. He sees that the people on the way are praying for their life.

 

After driving for some time, he sees a stop sign so he stops the car. A man forcefully enters to his car and shows him a knife and tells him to drive where he says. He takes him to the location and then he kills a man there. James gets afraid and runs from there. The man tries to catch him but James successfully escapes. While hiding, he sees two men coming out of the van with a little girl. They forcefully take her inside a house. Since James had to get out of that place, he takes that van but he feels like he shouldn’t leave the little girl like that. So he kills both the men and saves the little girl.

 

He takes the girl to help her reach home. On the way, she tells him that her name is Rose. And she adds that her father burnt their house because they had a lot of memories in that house. He didn’t want anyone to come to his house and live. They were on their way in the car when the petrol finished and her father went to bring the petrol and they got separated from there. After that, she got kidnapped. She says that they have to go to the same petrol pump. They head towards there. She find her father’s car there but they don’t find him there. So she says James to drop her to her aunt’s home because her father might have gone there. James says that the place is very far so he tells Rose to stay at his sister’s house. At first, Rose says that she wants to be with her father at the very last moments of her life but because she doesn’t have any option, so she goes with him. In his sister’s house, he sees that all the members have been killed. He doesn’t feel like Rose should see that and hence he tells Rose tostay at the swimming pool and swim.

 

At this moment also James wants to go for the party. He goes to the garage and takes the jeep. Rose sees him and asks him to take her with him so that she may find anyone in the party who might know her aunt. On the way, James sees a policeman and his family entering to the library. He feels that the place may be safe for Rose. But the policeman’s wife tells them to go away. The policeman looks very sad and tells James to kill everyone because he doesn’t want to live in the fear of getting killed. James declines that and they head towards the party.

 

They reach to the party and see everyone enjoying. The party was hosted by his friend. His friend’s sister was his ex-girlfriend. She takes him inside to get intimate with him. But James can’t do that because he is in the grief of loosing his sister and her family. Now his ex-girlfriend takes him to the bunker and says that they will be saved in the explosion. But James declines that and says that not any bunker is going to save them. She gets angry and stressed with his words. James gets out of there and sees that Rose is vomiting because of some intoxicants given to her by the unknowns. He takes Rose from there and goes to his mother’s house. His mother asks him about his sister but he can’t tell anything about her. His mom asks him about Rose and he tells her everything. James feels that he should take Rose to her aunt’s house and hence he asks for petrol from his mother, bids ‘Final Goodbye’ to his mom.

 

He takes her to her aunt’s home. There seems to be no one in the house but James finds out that her father has been killed. Rose also sees that. She becomes very sad. James asks her to come with him but she says that she loved her father so very much that she can’t leave him when the world is ending. He tells Rose that he too, is going to be a father. He tells her about Zoe. Rose says him that he should have been with Zoe at such a time. Actually, James left Zoe in such time because he felt sad as Zoe gave him such news when the world was ending. Looking at Rose he finds out how beautiful a bond between father and a daughter is.  Rose says that it has not been late and hence he should go to Zoe’s place.

 

James gets emotional while leaving Rose because he could see the reflection of his daughter in Rose’s eyes. James doesn’t have much time. His petrol also gets finished and hence he goes running to his house. But he finds that Zoe is not there. He looks at the sea and finds her at the beach. James asks pardon to her but she looks very angry because he left her in such time. On the other hand, they saw a huge fire with thunder coming towards them. They hug each other because they love each other. They take their final breaths in each other’s arms and leave the world with all the other humans since the world comes to the end. The movie teaches us to always express love to our loved ones because we don’t know what the next moment is and we may not even get a chance to show what we feel for them just because of our silly fights and ego; because we never know!

The Expendables 3

This movie is a sequel to ‘The Expendables 2’ and was released on August 15, 2014. The movie had collected 214.7 million dollars worldwide with a budget of 90 to 100 million dollars. The movie was directed by Patrick Hughes and the screenplay was written by Sylvester Stallone, Katrin Benedikt, and Creighton Rothenberger.

Plot summary:

The opening sequence of the movie begins with the scene where the team of expendables is making a trap so that they can save their friend. Now we can see a train full of soldiers guarding the train. The fight begins between the expendables and the soldiers. But with the help of their trap, expendables make their way to the train where Christmas saves his friend from there. His name is Doc.  Rather than going with the expendables team, doc decides to take revenge against the soldiers and destroys the Denzali Prison, and then comes back to the team.

 

After that, Barney tells Doc that they are going on a mission where a man named Victor is making a deal on a thermobaric bomb and they have to save it. Doc says that he has no weapons. Barney gives him all his weapons and Doc becomes happy looking at them. Now they reach Somalia. Caeser takes all of them to the terrorist’s location. Doc makes his way by fighting with the terrorists. They wait for the dealer to come. Barney gets shocked looking at the dealer because he thought that he had already died. Doc tells Barney that he is not Victor but Conrad Stonebanks. Barney without thinking anything starts an attack. Barney and Doc are actually the oldest members of the expandables. So other members don’t know about Stonebanks. Barney gets shocked looking at the Stonebanks because he had killed him years ago. Stonebanks points his sniper towards Barney and then shoots Caeser where he becomes very much injured. They take him to the hospital where Barney leaves his lucky ring to him.

 

Barney meets the new man instead of the church this time. His name is Max. he tells Barney that he missed the chance of capturing Victor. But he adds that he will give him another chance. Now Stonebanks is seen buying a painting in Russia.

 

On the other hand, Barney tells other members to get out of the mission because he doesn’t want to risk anyone else’s life. Christmas becomes angry and tells him not to do so. But Barney does what he had made in mind. Barney now meets Bonaparte who he makes a team of young people. He meets a new guy Galgo who is actually the age of Barney but tells a lie that he is younger. But  Galgo looks very active. They don’t keep Galgo on their team.

 

Now Max gives Barney the information about the new deal of Stonebanks. He adds that they have to bring him alive because the government wants to punish him. After that Berney and the new team along with Trench's head towards the location. Smilee, one of the new members tells Barney that he won’t do anything until he gets to know about who exactly Stonebanks is. Now Barney hands him the file which states that Stonebanks was actually he member of the expendables and he cheated so he was thrown out of it.  Now the team reaches to Romania where they notice every small detail of Stonebanks. But his security seems very tight so they feel that they can’t easily catch him but will have to wait until he goes for a meeting. Thorn tells Barney that he will hack the system that day and they can easily catch him. After that, all the members start working for the mission where they steadily start breaking the security.

 

After some time, there comes Vata to make a deal on the bomb. Stonebanks asks for some time for the deal because he says he wants to think. And now arrive the expendables team and they start attacking everyone. Stonebanks tries his best to escape but Luna comes and makes him unconscious. After that, they take Stonebanks in a van and head towards Trench where he is waiting with the plane. Stonebanks now starts instigating Barney. No one notices his gps locating watch and hence Stonebanks’s men come to save him and attack the van. Barney falls off the bridge into the sea whereas Stonebanks makes an escape. All the expendables team gets caught by Stonebanks and are made hostages. Stonebanks tells his men to search for Barney. They find Barney and before they could make a call, Barney kills everyone and meets Trench. Stonebanks send a video message to Barney where he gives him an ultimatum of 48 hours to save the other members.

 

And hence Barney goes back to his place to collect weapons. There he is joined by Galgo and all the other old members to assist him with the mission. They get to the location and save the new members. But Stonebanks had already fitted bombs in that abandoned building. They successfully jam the bomb’s signals with the device held by Gunnar. Thorn tells them that they have half more hour to leave the place. Now Stonebanks sends his men to kill everyone. And then the new and old expendables members start fighting. Barney motivates them to work together. Then they fight against the enemies together. Max also arrives there and starts attacking the enemies. Everyone heads towards the terrace so that they can get into the chopper. But Stonebanks stops Barney and they get into a fight. Finally, Barney shoots Stonebanks and successfully gets into the chopper.

 

Now the whole team is seen enjoying themselves together. Galgo asks Barney to take him to the team and Barney accepts that. And now the expendables’ team has grown bigger and stronger and the movie comes to an end.

The Expendables 2

This movie is a sequel to The Expendables and was released on August 15, 2012. The movie had collected 315 million dollars worldwide with a budget of 100 million dollars. The movie was directed by Simon West and the screenplay was written by Sylvester Stallone and Richard Wenk.

Plot summary:

The opening sequence of the movie begins with Nepal where the army had captured an area. A man is seen beating another man. There comes Barney with the expendables team enters the area and fights with the army. There they save two hostages, one is Trench and another man is a Chinese billionaire.

 

In the next scene, Barney helps the other hostage, the Chinese billionaire to get back to his country while the team of the expendables gets back to New Orleans. Everyone is seen enjoying the bar in New Orleans. Billy, one of the members of the expendables tells Barney that he wants to leave the job because he wants to spend his life with his girlfriend and Barney accepts that and lets him go. Now we can see Mr. Church coming to Barney. He tells Barney that he should not have damaged Vilena Island. But he gives him a new project and tells him that their plane has crashed on Albania island and inside the box of the plane is a very important device. He asks Barney to bring that device. He even adds that the box is not an ordinary box but it will change its password after sometimes and if anyone tries to open it with a different password, it will cause a huge explosion. Church tells Barney to take Maggie with the team as she knows has to open that box. The church even tells Barney that Maggie shall not be hurt in the mission.

 

The expendables team head toward Albania Island with Maggie. Gunnar tries to impress Maggie but he fails. Whereas Billy, who is working on his last mission with the expendables, tells Maggie why he left the army. Maggie seems to be touched by Billy’s words and they develop a good bond. The team reaches the location where they search for the plane. They find the plane and Maggie now goes to take the device out and they successfully get the device safely. But when they were returning, Vilain and his team captures Billy and starts hurting him. He tells them that he will let Billy get back with them safely if they give him the device. Maggie accepts that and says that she will give the device. Vilain takes the device but kills Billy. While dying, Billy gives Barney a device and dies. Everyone gets very emotional because they had lost the youngest expendable member.

 

Barney now asks Maggie about the device. She tells Barney that during the cold war, Russia had 5 tons of Plutonium. And the map of the location where plutonium is stored was secretly deleted. But that device had the location of that place and since Vilain has already taken that, he will use this to sell the plutonium to the wrong people. Now Church calls Barney and Barney gets angry at him telling him that Vilain has already killed one of his members and hence now, he will handle this work in his own way. On the other hand, we see Vilain and Hector torturing people to dig and find the plutonium reserve. Vilain finally finds the plutonium reserve and asks Hecter to take all 5-ton Plutonium out in three days.

 

On the other hand, Maggie loses connection with Vilain. They had found their latest location near Bulgaria and hence they decide to keep their plane near there and travel by jeep from there. Nearby there in a bar, they find Vilain’s men. Barney fights with them and tries to find the information about Vilain from him. Barney tells Christmas to bring the weapons from the plane and he moves forward with the other members. They decide to stay at an abandoned place. The next morning, Barney and Maggie look at the location given by Vialin’s men at the bar. At the same moment, Vilain’s men start firing at them. They even bring tanks and other weapons to attack the expendables. Barney calls Christmas when he has arrived because he was bringing the weapons. Vilain’s men start destroying everything with the tanks and  Barney and the team look helpless. But in the meantime, a secret attack occurs which kills all of Vilain’s men. This was done by Booker who is Barney’s friend and had gone underground for years. Barney becomes happy looking at Booker. They talk with each other, Barney asks Booker to work with the team but Booker says he wants to work alone. But he helps the team by saying that they should stay at the nearby village because the villagers too want to get rid of Vilain.

 

They go to that village where the ladies start attacking them thinking they too should be Vilain’s men. Maggie handles the situation and the lady leader tells them that they have been saving the women and children from a villain. Vilain’s men come there searching for Barney and the group. Barney and the group kill everyone there.

 

Now the scene shifts towards Vilain where they have nearly extracted all the plutonium. Vilain tells Hecter to manage the place and the worker after the work completes because he doesn’t want to leave a single piece of evidence too. Now Barney and his group reach the plutonium extraction location. Christmas tells Barney that they can’t enter easily because they have installed an automated tank that would kill them the moment they try to enter. And hence Barney makes a plan to enter through the plane. They blast the bridge off and enter the place. Gunnar even saves Maggie’s life. When Vilain’s men start killing the innocent workers, Barney and the team arrive and fire at them. When Maggie checks for the plutonium, she finds nothing because Vilain and Hecter had already taken all the plutonium. Vilain operates the bomb installed at the mine which blocks all the way and hence Barney, the team, and the innocent people get stuck in there. At that moment comes Trench who explodes the rock and saves all the innocents. Now Church also comes there and the team heads towards the airport to find Vilain. They attack Vilain’s truck but Vilain asks his men to shift the plutonium to the plane. Barney and his men start attacking Vilain but since there were a large number of Vilain’s men, they seem helpless. Hence at a very important time comes Booker again who helps them. Vilain runs from that place. Now Christmas kills Vilain’s men with a knife and he even attacks Hector. Hecter and Christmas get into a tough fight and Christmas eventually kills Hecter.

 

On the other hand, Barney and Vilain too get into a real fight. They decide to fight unarmed. And eventually, v kills Vilain and cuts his head off. He shows that head to Mr. Church as proof. The expendables team has completed the mission and hence they now go back to their place. Barney gives Billy’s letter to his girlfriend and the movie comes to an end.

The Expendables

'The Expendables is an action thriller movie released on August 13, 2010. This movie has two more sequels The  Expendables 2 and The Expendables 3. This movie was directed by one of the leads Sylvester Stallone and the screenplay was written by Sylvester Stallone himself along with David Callaham. The movie was a commercial hit with a box office collection of two hundred and seventy-four million dollars while the budget was eight million dollars.

Plot summary:

The opening sequence of the movie starts with a team of expendables. They are the group of people who used to conduct assassinations or rescues after they get paid. Actually, the members of expendables previously used to work either in the military or in some secret departments. One day they reach a ship where a villain along with his men had kidnapped a group of people. There comes the team of expendables and they kill all the terrorists and save the hostages. One of the members of expendables, named Gunnar catches one of the terrorists and tries to hang him to death. Other members tell Gunnar to not do that. Another member of Expendables tries stopping him but he starts hurting him too. Now there comes Barney who stops him from doing that and even takes him out of the team. After accomplishing that task, they come back to their place in New Orleans.

 

Now Barney goes to one of his friend’s places named Tool. His friend is a tattoo artist and also handles the phone calls and meetings of the expendables team. Now Tool tells Barney that a new work has come and for that, he has to go to the church to meet a man named Mr. Church. Mr. Church tells Barney that they have to go to Vilena island and kill the dictator of the island named General Garza. Mr. church convinces Barney to do so by saying that he will receive as much money as he wants.

 

The next scene shows Vilena island where General Garza was torturing the people. And there is seen General Monroe too who has come there to do an illegal deal of opium. Gunnar comes to Barney to say sorry and asks him to take him to the team once again since he too wants to do the assassination at Vilena. But Barney doesn’t accept that. Gunnar gives a terrifying look and goes from there. Now Barney and Jason  Statham go to Vilena to know about the place and the situation by disguising themselves as wildlife photographers. They see that Garza is torturing the people of the locality so bad and their life has become hell.

 

In the next scene, there appears Sandra. Barney and Jason  Statham get attracted to her beauty. Sandra takes them to show the island. James on the other hand tells General Garza to do the opium production fast. Barney, Sandra, and Jason are looking at them and the men of Garza see this and try taking them on arrest. But Jason and Barney fire at them and save themselves. Now Jason tries to start the plane while Barney fires at Garza’s men who are at the port. But Sandra refuses to go with them and hence Jason and Barney leave the place on the plane. They turn their plane toward the same island and start firing and bombing at the port and the port is destroyed.

 

Now Gunnar teams up with James and Garza. James asks Gunnar to kill Barney and Gunnar accepts that too. Barney comes to know that James is an ex-CIA officer. Mr. Church too is a CIA officer and since they can’t kill the ex-CIA officer so they gave this work in the hands of Barney and the team. Barney now says that he wants to drop that mission because there whole lot of risks and dirty politics in it.

 

On the other hand, it shows that Sandra is Garza’s daughter but James tortures her because he thinks she knows about Barney. Barney gets to know about this and he returns back to save Sandra. Yin Yang joins him too. But on the way, Gunnar attacks them, and Barney fights with Gunnar back. Now Gunnar is injured and realizes that he is doing wrong and hence he tells Barney everything about James. The whole team of expendables now goes to Vilena to help Barney defeat James and Garza and save Sandra. They fit the bomb in the whole building whereas Barney goes to save his heroine Sandra. But they get caught by one of the men. Now the whole expendables team comes there to save Barney. But that man takes Sandra. Now Garza comes and addresses the people of the whole of Vilena that he did wrong by supporting James. James comes there and shoots at Garza.

 

Now James tells his men to fire at the building. But Barney operates the bombs and hence the whole building gets blasted. Meanwhile, James takes Sandra from there and runs. But Barney comes across them and kills James with Jason’s help. He saves Sandra and the team goes back to New Orleans. Gunnar gets well from his injury. He asks pardon Barney and Barney accepts that and the movie comes to a happy ending.

Wanted

The movie ‘Wanted’ is an action thriller movie released on  27 June 2008. It was directed by Timur Bekmambetov and the screenplay was written by Michael Brandt, Derek Haas, and Chris Morgan. This movie received two Oscar nominations.

Plot summary:

The opening sequence of the movie shows a man names Mr. X going to meet a lady and they talk about the mystery of an organization where they get attacked. Mr. X runs from that place and jumps into the next building but gets to know that it was a trap and someone blows his skull off there.

 

There is a boy named Wesley Gibson who is tired of his life and his monotonous job and his boss also keeps on irritating him with her orders. In his office works his friend too. But actually, his friend is having a secret affair with his girlfriend. Wesley can’t say anything because he is an introvert. His life seems to be very colorless. He even takes pills for his panic attacks. One day while he was buying pills from a store, there comes a lady named Fox. Fox tells him that she knew about his father. But Wesley tells her not to disturb him because his father died when Wesley was very young. But Fox denies that and says that his father was alive and was killed just yesterday. She adds that his name was Mr. X. and she even tells him that his life too is in danger. At the same moment, a man starts firing at Fox and Wesley and Fox also fires back. Wesley gets confused about the scene. Fox takes Wesley from that place and the attacker follows them. But since Fox was a very skilled driver and shooter she saves Wesley’s life.

 

In the very next scene, Wesley’s eyes open at a place where he is surrounded by a group of people. At that place appears Morgan Freeman who asks Wesley to grab the gun and shoot at the flies. Wesley tells them that he is not how they actually think and he has a very simple life. He adds that Fox came and took her and he doesn’t know anything. But another man comes and points his gun at Wesley’s head and asks him to shoot. Wesley gets a panic attack but he has to do that and hence he surprisingly fires at the flies. He gets very shocked at what he did.

 

Then he gets back to his work where he gets too frustrated and shouts at his boss and even throws a keyboard at his cheater friend’s mouth and leaves. Fox comes to pick him up and she takes him to a place where he meets Sloan and he tells him that what Wesley calls his panic attacks are not really panic attacks but they are the energies that give him special abilities. Wesley gets confused and asks him who they are. Sloan replies that they are the members of Assassin and his father was their coworker. She also adds that a few days ago, his father was killed and now they are searching for him to kill him. Sloan also tells that they get to know about the name of the people who are going to do something wrong in the future from ‘Loom of Fate’ and they kill them after knowing.

 

Wesley’s training begins when he gets brutally beaten and he gets to learn how to bear tortures. He is also taught various skills like turning a bullet in a curve. Then Fox takes him for the work. He starts firing at the culprits and becomes a successful assassin. One day, Wesley gets in front of Victor and they start fighting. Victor shoots Wesley in his shoulder and leaves. Now Sloan tells Wesley that it was Victor who killed his father and tells him to kill Victor. Basically, Wesley is given the job of killing Victor. But in the loom of fates, Wesley's name also comes and hence Sloan tells Fox to kill Wesley.

 

Wesley takes the bullet out of his shoulder and tracks it and goes to a place where he tells a man to fix a meeting with Victor. Then a scene is shown where Wesley and Victor get into a fight on a train. Fox also comes there and derails the train so that Wesley and Victor die. But surprisingly, Victor saves Wesley. But Wesley shoots at Victor and while dying Victor tells Wesley that he is his real father. The pivotal point of the movie comes here when Fox tells Wesley that Victor is right and Victor is Wesley’s father. They trained Wesley because they knew that Victor would never kill Wesley. Fox adds that now she has to kill both of them because both of their names had come in the ‘Loom of Fate’. Wesley runs out of the train and jumps into the river. Pekwarsky saves Wesley and tells him that years ago ‘Loom of Fate’ showed the name of Sloan himself but he hid the name. Victor didn’t like how he went out of the morale so he left the organization. And now Sloan has started killing anyone he likes to earn money. He even adds that Victor wanted to kill Sloan because he is misusing the power. Now Wesley starts following Sloan to fulfill his father’s dream.

 

Wesley tells all the assassins about the reality of Sloan. Sloan accepts that and says that by doing that he has saved their life too because ‘Loom of Fate’ gave their name too. He convinces everyone to kill Wesley and they point their gun to Wesley. But Fox fires a curved bullet and kills everyone and she also gets killed by that bullet. But Wesley is safe and he follows Sloan to kill him. He puts him in a trap and shoots him and the movie ends.

Hidden Figures

This movie was released on January 6, 2017. This biographical movie is about three African-American mathematicians working at NASA and their beautiful journey. The movie also depicts the bitter truth of racial discrimination prevailing in the past. The movie is based on the book of the same name ‘Hidden Figures’. This Oscars-nominated movie was directed by Theodore Melfi and the screenplay was written by Theodore Melfi himself and Allison Schroeder.

Plot Summary:

The movie begins with the time frame of 1961 in America. The opening scene shows Katherine Johnson and her two friends Dorothy Vaughn and Mary Jackson. They work in the calculation department at NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). Katherine is a very good mathematician. Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughn, and Mary Jackson are on their way to work in a car.  Just like every other day, their car stops working on their way. A policeman arrives there and asks for their ids. He even sarcastically comments on their color saying that from when the people like them (he meant black people) started getting jobs at NASA. Actually, the white and black people used to work separately at that time. Whites didn’t use to let the blacks come near to them and in the same way, didn’t even use to talk with them. There was heavy racial discrimination at that time.

 

At that time, America and Russia were in the competition of launching satellites into space so that they could spy on each other. Al Harrison is in charge of this project and is even the head of NASA. Everyone from the military and defense are pressurizing him to launch the satellites as soon as possible because Russia was getting way too forward. No one is helping him but just wants the result. Harrison asks to call someone who is very good at analytical geometry. But no whites were really good at that. So Secretary Mitchell goes to the West group (where the blacks used to work). Katherine and her friends are black. There she gets to know that Katherine is very good at that so she hires her to assist Harrison. Also, her friend Mary gets appointed to the hit shield department. There an engineer Karl Zielinski motivates Mary to become an engineer. But since Mary was a black girl, she was not allowed to study in a school where whites study.

 

Katherine now goes to the East group from the West group. There she doesn’t get much of a warm welcome. One of her co worker even hands her a garbage bin thinking that she must be a cleaner. Everyone stays farther from Katherine. When Harrison gets near to her and talks, he understands that Katherine has the caliber to work. Harrison doesn’t support racial discrimination. Paul, the chief engineer of the workplace doesn’t like Katherine.

 

Katherine asks one of the lady coworkers where the washroom is but the lady denies to tell her. She then goes to the west wing to use the washroom. They don’t even let her use their coffee machines. At the end of the day, Harrison throws all her calculations in the dustbin because he thinks she did everything so quickly in a hurry.

 

Another day a group of astronauts come there. They are getting ready to go to space for the very first time in history. One of the astronauts named John Glenn meets Katherine and her friends. He becomes happy and optimistic looking at them.

 

Paul starts getting more and more troublesome to Katherine. He hides some of the lines of the document so that it becomes difficult for her calculations. But Katherine with all her senses from the remaining data finds out the reason behind the failure of the past missions. Katherine does it so well that Harrison and Paul doubt if she is a Russian spy. They even interrogate her and they find out that she has genuinely done the calculations. Hence he gives him the other set of data for further calculations. Anna on the other hand has cased a file so that she too can study engineering in a white school. She gets approved to join the night class.

 

On the other hand, a piece of news spreads that Russia has successfully sent its astronauts into space. This news makes Harrison mad and makes everyone work overtime. When he checks Katherine at her desk, he doesn’t find her and he gets angry. When she comes there, Harrison shouts at her badly and asks her where she was. Katherine replies that she went to the washroom. He cross-questions her telling her who goes to the washroom for the whole 40 minutes. Katherine replies confidently that she doesn’t get to use a washroom here and that she has to walk half a mile to use the washroom. She even adds that no one comes near to her or talks to her. She tells that she is even given a different coffee machine and after working as hard as possible, she gets only half of the salary she gets. Harrison didn’t know about all this. He goes to the door of the ‘colored washroom’ breaks the board and tells the black ladies that they can use the washroom wherever they want.

 

NASA had to perform very precise calculations to send astronauts to the satellite. So Katherine had to attend high-level meetings too. Before that, neither a lady nor a black human had gone to such meetings. But now Katherine gets to go to the meeting and throw light on her calculations. Everyone attending the meeting gets impressed. Glenn too gets happy looking at Katherine’s work.

 

Katherine does all the calculations of the mission using her skills. But now since the IBM machines have arrived, Harrison tells Katherine that she doesn’t have to do calculations any longer and hence she can go to the west wing back. Hence Katherine has to go to the west wing now. At this time, Paul and his friends have stopped practicing racial discrimination.

 

Rocket is on the verge of launching now. But in the end moment, the calculations done by the IBM computers look faulty. No one gets any idea how that happened. Harrison calls Glenn and Glenn answers that he is ready to go to the space if Katherine does the remaining calculation. Harrison calls Katherine and she performs the calculations. At first, she is not allowed to come inside but later Harrison takes her to the operating room.

 

The calculations become precise and Glenn successfully gets to space and even lands safely. Paul and Katherine become good friends too. Also, Mary successfully graduates from the engineering school. Their other friend Dorothy also becomes the first colored supervisor of NASA. And the story ends with a happy ending. The movie ‘Hidden Figure’ depicts the oppressed hidden figures like Katherine behind the success of such a great project and gives a real view of racial discrimination prevailing in the past and a deep message against racial discrimination.
